Off the coast of Soyo in Angola is a gas field with several drilling rigs. Three new pipelines, totalling a length of more than 20 kilometres, were needed to connect one of the rigs to the mainland. For installing these gas pipelines, a trench 8.5 km long and 30 metres wide had to be dug.

The trench runs through water for 2.5 km and for 6 km over land, right through the mangrove forest.

In total, this project entailed dredging more than 350,000 m³ of materials.
